Native to eastern and southern Africa, this unusual caudiciform develops a swollen, tuberous root topped with slender climbing vines and rich green leaves. Small green flowers add subtle interest during active growth. Its underground storage organ supports the plant through seasonal dormancy, when the foliage may drop and the vines die back.

☀️ Light
Provide bright, indirect light or gentle morning sunlight. Protect the foliage and exposed caudex from intense afternoon sun.

💧 Watering
Water thoroughly during active, leafy growth, allowing the upper portion of the soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering significantly once the foliage dies back, keeping the dormant tuber mostly dry. Avoid leaving the pot sitting in water.

🪴 Soil
Use a loose, fast draining mix of potting soil, pumice or perlite, and fine orchid bark. The mix should retain some moisture during growth without becoming soggy.

🌱 Fertilizing
Feed monthly during active growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize during dormancy.

🔄 Repotting
Repot as new growth begins when the roots fill the container. Choose a slightly larger pot with drainage holes and room for the developing tuber. Maintain the existing planting depth, especially with young plants.
