Our Story
SarahCotta Plants was founded by Sarah and Tadeh Bazik in June 2020. At the time, plant shopping options in our area felt limited beyond big box stores. As plant lovers, we wanted to create something special for our community.
Soon after, we found an old hair salon that was available for lease. Although the space was small, it was in the perfect location to bring our vision to life. We transformed it into a warm and welcoming boutique plant shop, and SarahCotta Plants began to take root in Los Angeles.
We built relationships with incredible growers and nursery owners throughout Southern California and began building a greenhouse of our own. Each week, we visited their nurseries and personally selected the healthiest and most beautiful plants we could find and brought them home. What began as a small boutique plant shop soon grew into something much more.
During the uncertainty of the pandemic, our shop became a welcoming place where plant lovers could slow down, connect, and feel at home. Customers visited not only to find a new plant, but also to share stories, talk about life, and connect with us through a mutual love of plants. We were honored to serve our local community for nearly six years and to be featured in the Los Angeles Times and several local publications.
As our community grew, so did SarahCotta Plants. We introduced online ordering, local delivery, and nationwide shipping, allowing us to share our carefully selected plants with customers far beyond Los Angeles.
Along the way, our family grew too. We became parents to two wonderful boys. In April 2026, we made the difficult decision to close our retail shop and begin a new chapter as a fully online business. This change allows us to spend more time with our sons while continuing to expand our selection of healthy, high quality plants.
Today, SarahCotta Plants proudly serves plant lovers across the country with fast nationwide shipping and the same care, knowledge, and personal attention that shaped our original Los Angeles shop. We still select every plant by hand, and pack every order with love.
Although the way we serve our customers has changed, our purpose remains the same: bringing people and plants together, one special plant at a time.
