Native to New Caledonia in the South Pacific, the False Aralia (previously Dizygotheca elegantissima) is an elegant evergreen shrub prized for its finely textured foliage and slender, upright growth. Its narrow, deeply serrated leaflets radiate outward like delicate fingers, creating an airy canopy in shades of deep green to bronze. An interesting feature is the difference between its juvenile and mature foliage: young plants display the thin, finely cut leaves commonly seen in cultivation, while mature specimens develop much broader leaflets. Its graceful shape makes it a beautiful accent for bright indoor spaces.

☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sunlight is suitable, but protect from harsh afternoon sun.

💧 Water
Water when the top inch of soil begins to dry. Keep the mix lightly moist without becoming soggy, and allow excess water to drain completely.

🌱 Soil
Use a well-draining houseplant mix amended with perlite and fine orchid bark. Choose a pot with drainage holes.

🌡️ Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

💨 Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Keep away from heating and air-conditioning vents, as dry air can contribute to leaf drop.
