Seyrigia humbertii
An exceptionally unusual caudiciform species from Madagascar, treasured by collectors for its ghostly white fuzzy stems and underground tuberous base. A member of the cucumber family, this bizarre climbing plant develops delicate tendrils and silvery web covered vines that give it an almost alien appearance. Over time it forms a swollen caudex that stores water for dry periods, making it a fascinating addition to rare succulent and caudiciform collections.
Light 🌞
Provide very bright indirect light to partial sun. Strong light helps maintain compact growth and vibrant silvery stems.
Watering 💧
Water thoroughly during active growth, then allow much of the soil to dry before watering again. Reduce watering significantly during dormancy or cooler weather.
Soil 🕳️
Use a very fast draining gritty mix with pumice, lava rock, coarse sand, and cactus soil to prevent excess moisture around the roots.
Fertilizing 🧪
Feed lightly during active growth with a diluted balanced fertilizer once every few weeks.
Repotting 🪴
Repot carefully during warm active growth. Mature plants can develop a decorative exposed caudex over time.
