A unique epiphytic cactus known for its deeply lobed, zig zag foliage that looks like a living piece of art. Native to the rainforests of Mexico, this jungle cactus grows attached to trees rather than in desert soil, which gives it very different care needs compared to typical cacti. Mature plants can also produce fragrant night blooming flowers, adding even more appeal for collectors. Its unusual shape and trailing habit make it a standout in any indoor plant collection.
Light 🌞
Prefers bright, indirect light. It can handle some gentle morning sun, but avoid intense afternoon exposure to prevent leaf burn.
Watering 💧
Water when the top layer of soil feels dry. Keep the soil lightly moist during active growth, but allow it to dry slightly between waterings.
Soil 🕳️
Use a chunky, well draining mix. A blend of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite works well for this epiphytic cactus.
Fertilizing 🧪
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding during cooler months.
Repotting 🪴
Repot every one to two years or when root bound. It prefers slightly snug conditions but still benefits from fresh soil.
