Rhipsalis baccifera ‘Cashero’
Rhipsalis baccifera ‘Cashero’ is a unique trailing epiphytic cactus known for its thin, cascading stems that create a soft, flowing look perfect for hanging baskets. Unlike desert cacti, Rhipsalis species thrive in more tropical environments and have a delicate, almost moss like appearance. This species is especially interesting because Rhipsalis baccifera is one of the only cacti naturally found outside of the Americas, with a wide native range that includes parts of Central and South America, Africa, and even Sri Lanka. In nature, it grows on trees in humid forests, where it benefits from filtered light, airflow, and consistent moisture. Its easygoing care and graceful growth make it a favorite for adding texture and movement indoors.
Light 🌞
Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but will grow best with consistent filtered light.
Watering 💧
Water when the top portion of the soil begins to dry out. Keep the soil lightly moist, but avoid letting it stay soggy.
Soil 🕳️
Use a well draining, airy mix. A blend of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite works well.
Fertilizing 🧪
Feed during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer to support steady growth.
Repotting 🪴
Repot every couple of years or when the plant becomes rootbound. It prefers being slightly snug in its container.
