Philodendron ‘Burle Marx’ Variegated
Gorgeous uncommon aroid with glossy, elongated heart-shaped leaves splashed with yellow, cream, and varying shades of green. Each leaf develops its own pattern, ranging from delicate marbling to bold sections of contrasting color. The original ‘Burle Marx’ cultivar is associated with Brazil and named in honor of Roberto Burle Marx, the celebrated Brazilian landscape architect known for incorporating native plants into his designs. Its short spaces between stem nodes encourage a lush, densely branched appearance, while aerial roots allow it to climb when given support. This combination of colorful foliage and versatile growth makes it a beautiful addition to an indoor tropical collection.
☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the lighter portions of the leaves.
💧 Water
Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of the potting mix begins to dry. Allow excess water to drain completely and avoid keeping the soil constantly soggy.
🌱 Soil
Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix containing orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir. Choose a pot with drainage holes.
🌡️ Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 65 and 85°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
💨 Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts to typical household conditions. Provide gentle air circulation.
🪴 Fertilizer
Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength during active growth. Reduce feeding when growth slows.
