Olea europa 'Olive Tree'

An iconic evergreen tree with silvery green foliage, fragrant tiny white flowers and the ability to develop beautifully twisted, ancient looking trunks with age. Commonly known as Olive Tree, European Olive or Common Olive, this species is native to the Mediterranean region and surrounding parts of Europe, North Africa and western Asia. Olive trees have been cultivated for thousands of years for their fruit, oil, wood and ornamental beauty, making them one of the most culturally important trees in the world.

Light 🌞
Provide very bright light and as much direct sun as possible. Olive trees grow best outdoors in full sun, but can be kept indoors near the brightest window available.

Watering 💧
Allow the soil to dry out significantly between waterings. Olive trees are drought tolerant once established and prefer to stay on the drier side rather than sitting in constantly moist soil.

Soil 🕳️
Use a gritty, fast draining soil mix. A cactus or succulent mix amended with pumice, perlite or coarse sand works well.

Fertilizing 🧪
Feed lightly during spring and summer with a balanced fertilizer. Avoid heavy feeding, especially during cooler months when growth slows.

Repotting 🪴
Repot every 2 to 3 years, or when the plant becomes root bound. Choose a pot with excellent drainage and avoid moving into an oversized container.
