Native to South Africa, this unusual succulent produces upright, pencil shaped stems patterned with silvery green markings and darker stripes. Its tiny leaves quickly fall away, leaving sculptural stems that resemble little pickles. Despite its cactuslike appearance, it belongs to the daisy family and can produce bright red to orange flowers in summer.

☀️ Light
Provide bright light with several hours of gentle direct sunlight. Introduce stronger sun gradually and protect from intense afternoon exposure.

💧 Watering
Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. Reduce watering significantly when growth slows, and never leave the pot sitting in water.

🪴 Soil
Use a fast draining cactus and succulent mix amended with pumice or perlite.

🌱 Fertilizing
Feed lightly with a diluted succulent fertilizer two or three times during active growth. Avoid fertilizing while dormant.

🔄 Repotting
Repot when the roots fill the container, preferably during active growth. Choose a pot with drainage holes that is only slightly larger than the previous one.

🐾 Toxicity
Non-Toxic
