Hoya krohniana 'Super Silver'

A beautiful silver splashed trailing Hoya prized for its tiny heart shaped leaves that appear almost completely coated in metallic silver. This rare cultivar stays relatively compact compared to many Hoyas, making it perfect for shelves, hanging planters, terrariums, and small space collections. Native to tropical Southeast Asia through its parent lineage, it grows as an epiphytic vine in nature, climbing trees and thriving in warm humid conditions. With enough bright light and maturity, it may reward growers with clusters of fragrant fuzzy flowers that often smell sweet in the evening.

🌞 Light
Bright indirect light is ideal for maintaining the heavy silver coloration. A small amount of gentle morning sun can be beneficial, but intense afternoon sun may scorch the leaves. Lower light conditions can reduce silver variegation and slow growth.

💧 Watering
Allow the soil to partially dry between waterings. Hoyas prefer slightly drying out rather than staying constantly wet. Water thoroughly, then allow excess moisture to drain away completely.

🕳️ Soil
Use a chunky airy mix with excellent drainage. A blend containing orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and potting soil works very well. As an epiphyte, it appreciates strong airflow around the roots.

🧪 Fertilizing
Feed lightly during active growth in spring and summer using a balanced liquid fertilizer every few weeks. Avoid excessive fertilizing, which can lead to weak growth.

🪴 Repotting
This Hoya enjoys being somewhat root bound and typically does not require frequent repotting. Repot only when the plant clearly outgrows its container.
