Hoya 'Krinkle 8' XL
Hoya carnosa ‘Krinkle 8’ is a charming trailing houseplant known for its thick, waxy leaves decorated with six to ten distinctive dimples. This collectible cultivar originated during the late 1960s as a sport of Hoya carnosa ‘Exotica’, receiving its playful name from the depressions that develop across mature leaves. Its vigorous vines can climb a trellis or cascade from a hanging planter. Mature plants may produce rounded clusters of fuzzy, porcelain-like flowers with a wonderfully sweet fragrance. Leave the flowering spurs attached after blooming because future flowers can develop from the same spurs.
🌞 Light
Provide bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun can encourage flowering. Protect the foliage from intense afternoon sunlight.
💧 Watering
Water thoroughly after approximately half of the potting mixture has dried. Allow excess water to drain completely. Reduce watering during cooler months.
🕳️ Soil
Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining mixture. Indoor potting mix amended with orchid bark and perlite or pumice provides excellent drainage and airflow.
🧪 Fertilizing
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant or orchid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce fertilizing during winter when growth slows.
🪴 Repotting
Repot when the roots fill the container or the potting mixture begins breaking down, commonly every two to three years. Choose a container one size larger with adequate drainage holes.
