Hoya archboldiana ‘Pink’

A spectacular tropical vine prized for producing some of the largest flowers found among Hoyas. Native to New Guinea and the Aru Islands, this epiphytic species grows naturally in warm, humid rainforests. Its vigorous vines develop large, thick, glossy green leaves that create an attractive display even when the plant is not flowering. Mature plants produce clusters of enormous, waxy, bell-shaped flowers in beautiful shades of pink. Each bloom features a contrasting pale corona and can measure several inches across. The unusual flowers give this Hoya a dramatic appearance unlike the familiar star-shaped blooms of many other species. Provide a trellis or other support to encourage its long vines and showcase its remarkable flowers.

☀️ Light

Bright, indirect light is ideal. Gentle morning sun can encourage flowering, but protect the leaves from intense afternoon sunlight.

💧 Water

Water thoroughly when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil have dried. Avoid allowing the plant to remain in soggy soil, especially during cooler months.

🌱 Soil

Use a loose, fast-draining epiphytic mix containing ingredients such as orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and a small amount of potting soil.

💦 Humidity

Prefers moderate to high humidity of approximately 50% to 70%. Good airflow is important in consistently humid conditions.

🌡️ Temperature

Keep between 65°F and 85°F. Protect from temperatures below 55°F and from sudden cold drafts.

🌼 Fertilizer

Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer. A bloom-supporting fertilizer may be used once the plant is mature.

📏 Growth Habit

A vigorous climbing or trailing vine that benefits from a sturdy trellis. Mature vines can become several feet long when grown under favorable conditions.
