Selenicereus chrysocardium 'Fern Leaf Cactus'
A stunning jungle cactus known for its deeply lobed, fern like foliage that creates a soft, flowing look unlike typical desert cacti. Native to the rainforests of Mexico, it grows as an epiphyte, clinging to trees and absorbing moisture from the humid air. The foliage has a rich green tone with a slightly velvety texture, giving it a lush and tropical presence. Mature plants can produce large, fragrant night blooming flowers, making it highly sought after by collectors who appreciate both foliage and blooms.
Light 🌞
Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light, but fuller growth and stronger leaf shape develop with consistent filtered light.
Watering 💧
Water when the top layer of soil dries out. Keep soil lightly moist during the growing season, allowing slight drying between waterings.
Soil 🕳️
Use a well draining, airy mix. A blend of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite works well for its epiphytic roots.
Fertilizing 🧪
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
Repotting 🪴
Repot every one to two years or when roots outgrow the container. It prefers slightly snug conditions.
Toxicity 🐾
