One of the most coveted species of Desert Rose, prized for its exceptionally thick, swollen caudex and dramatic bonsai-like appearance. Native to the Arabian Peninsula, this species often develops a broad, squat trunk that can resemble a miniature baobab tree. Compared to Adenium obesum, Adenium arabicum typically produces larger leaves, a stockier growth habit, and more impressive caudex development at a relatively young age. During the growing season, plants produce beautiful pink flowers that contrast beautifully against the sculptural trunk. Every specimen develops its own unique form, making it a favorite among collectors of caudiciforms, bonsai, and rare succulents.

🌞 Light

Provide full sun whenever possible. At least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily promotes compact growth, flowering, and maximum caudex development.

💧 Watering

Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Water deeply during active growth, then reduce watering significantly during dormancy or cool weather. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.

🕳️ Soil

Use an extremely fast-draining cactus or succulent mix amended with pumice, perlite, lava rock, or coarse sand. Excellent drainage is essential for long-term success.

🧪 Fertilizing

Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength. Regular feeding encourages vigorous growth and flowering.

🪴 Repotting

Repot every 2 to 3 years during warm weather. Many growers gradually expose more of the caudex during repotting to showcase its sculptural form and encourage additional swelling.
