Native to southern Africa, this sculptural caudiciform develops a swollen green trunk topped with slender, climbing branches and lobed, blue green leaves. Its distinctive base stores water, helping it withstand seasonal drought. A member of the passionflower family, it naturally sheds its foliage during dormancy, leaving the unusual trunk on display.

☀️ Light
Provide very bright light with gentle direct sunlight. Acclimate gradually to stronger exposure, and protect the green trunk from intense afternoon sun.

💧 Watering
Water thoroughly during active, leafy growth, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering sharply when the leaves drop, keeping an established dormant plant nearly dry. Never leave the pot sitting in water.

🪴 Soil
Use a gritty, fast draining succulent mix amended with pumice or perlite. Avoid heavy soil that retains excess moisture around the roots.

🌱 Fertilizing
Feed monthly during active growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize during dormancy.

🔄 Repotting
Repot at the beginning of active growth when roots fill the container. Choose a slightly larger pot with drainage holes and maintain the original planting depth. Avoid disturbing the roots while dormant.
